VICTORY FOR CHELSEA

VICTORY FOR CHELSEA
History was made and word of football shaken as Chelsea FC. Was crowned European Champions, on 19th may 2012. It would be recalled that the closest the London club has ever gone was a final appearance in 2008 in Moscow, against archrivals, Manchester United FC, with “Red Devils” carrying the day. Therefore, the “Roman Abramovic Army” came out, firing from all cylinders this time. But their chances seemed bleak in round sixteen, when they were defeated 3-1 by Napoli in Naples.
This led to the production of a more determined Chelsea team as they over turned the table, beating Napoli 4-1 at Stamford Bridge in the return leg, thereby qualifying 5-4 on aggregate. The team had an easy ride over Benfica of Portugal in the quarter finals defeating them 0-1(away) and 2-1 at home, thereby setting up a tantalizing semi-final with defending champions FC Bercelona of Spain. The first encounter, which took place in England, saw the blues came out with 0-1 score line(albeit difficulty), despite the many threats from the reigning world footballer of the year, Lionel Messi, ‘midfield maestro’, Xavi Hernandez and ‘defence breaker’, Andres Iniesta. But the absence of the towering defence ace, Gerrard Pique, meant that there was a crack in Bercelona defence which ‘goals merchant’ Didier Drogba aptly utilized via across from hardworking Brazilian Remires.
The return leg at Nou camp was by no means an easy task for the London club as Bercelona scored twice within the first thirty minutes from kick off. Again, Remires came to the rescue, scoring in the last minutes of stoppage time, meaning that should the game end like that, Chelsea would proceed to the finals on away goal rules. But then, Bercelona continued to mount pressure until late into the second half, when substitute, Fernando Torres scored to make it 2-2 which was the last straw that broke the camel’s back. Thus, the road was opened for Chelsea to play in the final against Bayern Munich FC of Germany, ironically on their home soil. The game was tension laden with the home team making dangerous incursions into Chelsea’s goal area but the defenders were equal to the task, as the first half ended goalless. With the avalanche of stars at Bayern’s disposal, one would have expected them to score, immediately the second half began they kept wasting their chances until Thomas Muller scored in 83rd minute, sending Bayern fans into wild jubilation but Didier Drogba once again rose to the occasion as he scored in the 88th minute to push the game to extra time. This was also eventful as Bayern continued their pressure, which led to Frank Ribery being brought down inside the Chelsea box by Didier Drogba only for Arjen Robben to miss the spot kick. The game was therefore to be decided by penalty shootout. Philip Lahm who missed his kick against Real Madrid CF in the semi-final was the first to play for Bayern and he made no mistake about it. Then came Juan Mata who shot directly into the hand of Bayern goal keeper, Manuel Neure. Others like Frank Lampard, David Luis and Ashley Cole scored for Chelsea, while Ivica Olic and Bastian Schweinsteger(who shot them into the finals) both missed their kicks, paving way for Didier Drogba to shoot Chelsea into glory, which brought smiles to the faces of the club owner, board members, coach, players and fans alike.

IMMORAL LOVE: A CONTRADICTION

The concept of love seems so familiar yet, rarely understood. Love is one of the most frequently used words in our daily conversation, but unfortunately, we possess little knowledge if the term and its implications. In this contemporary era, love means quite different things to different people; the real meaning is completely disfigured. Terms like “falling in love”; love is blind,” etc, call for reflection on the moral question of the term itself and its implication. More so, some of our youths are ignorant of what love means. Some say “being in love” “likes someone”.
These statements are simply incredible. They reveal that love is generally but erroneously viewed from the perspective of instinctive attraction and emotional affection at the expense of the rational asset, personal conviction and deliberate decision.            The oxford advanced learners dictionary defines love as “the strong affection or deep and tender feeling for somebody or something”. If this is accepted, how can we explain the love for the poor, the sick, and above all, love for the enemy?. How can we love what is not pleasing to us? Granted that love can be ignited by emotional affection but at that stage, it is still infatuation. Love is not an instinctive act but a rational choice.            The foregoing reveals that immorality associated with love comes only when what we call love is a mere infatuation. For instance, “to fall in love”, is totally a contradiction if terms. We cannot fall deliberately; fall is only an accident and so cannot be associated with a deliberate choice. Love goes with responsibility and so, to “fall in love” simply means to rid man of his rational ability and put him at a level of brutes.            The same goes for expression like LOVE IS BLIND and so on. Love can’t be blind when the light of pure reason is illuminated. It has the eyes that pierce and see through the most opaque of visions. It is light and shines out in the darkness of human heart.
However, when we allow physical attraction to blind us from seeing the other as she/he really is, we let our emotions rule over our intellect.
Love therefore should not be regarded as immorality, as the so called youths of today see it but as a perfect virtue to be treasured.

Shyness: causes, effects and ways of overcoming it.

SHYNESS: CAUSES, EFFECTS AND WAYS OF OVERCOMING IT.
Shyness is feeling uneasy around people in authority, elder ones, and persons of the opposite sex, strangers or even your peers. It is extreme self consciousness that at affects its victims in a variety of ways. Some get embarrassed, eyes downcast and heart pounding, they find themselves unable to speak. Others lose their composure and begin to chatter continuously. Yet others find it hard to speak up and voice their opinions.
Although they are positive aspects to having a measure of shyness. It is akin to modesty and humility, and one of the things God looks for and commends. Furthermore, a shy person is often valued as a good listener. But when shyness inhibits us from realizing our full potential and harmfully affects our relationship, work and feelings, then it is time to do something about it!
Shyness does niot describe what you are, it describes your behavior, the pattern you have learnt and reinforced through experience with others. You think others are making negative judgments of you. You think things will go all wrong if you try relating with other people. You expect things to turn out badly and they often do because you are tensed up and act I harmony with your beliefs.
By withdrawing or not speaking up, you don’t pay attention to others being preoccupied with yourself; you may have the impression that you are unfriendly, bored or even uncaring. You let opportunities pass you by. You accept items or situations you really don’t need. All because you are afraid to speak up and express your opinion. You lose out on the joy of meeting people and making new friends or doing things that will enhance your life. But others lose out too because they never get to know the real you.
With tie and effort, one can overcome shyness. To start with, stop worrying about whether the other person is evaluating you. Desist from assigning bad motives to other persons, not trusting them and thinking they are going to look down on you.
Secondly, try to think positively. No one is perfect; all of us have our strength and weakness. A difference in opinion does not mean a rejection of u as a person.
Thirdly, learn to be sociable, to say hello and if possible start a conversation. If you blunder in speech don’t feel condemned, if others laugh, learn to laugh with them. Always remember that does laughing also err in their speeches at times
In addition, one can overcome shyness by wanting to change and believing that change is possible, rehearsing a situation beforehand, dressing tastefully, making sure your clothes are clean and well ironed, acting with confidence, heeding to advice from elderly ones, e.g. parents, teachers because they can’t possibly advice you wrongly.
Conclusively, shyness is not an overall extreme in any case, try as much as possible to avoid being extremely shy. It doesn’t pay at all!

Examination Ethics and Malpractice ethics

EXAMINATION ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE ETHICS
Examination ethics are rules governing the conduct of examination. They are set rules/principles to ensure that an examination goes on in the right way.
These rules range from

  • ·         Do not talk to any student/candidate while writing an examination for any reason.
  • ·         Do not bring in any material into the examination hall except your writing materials ( pen, pencil, eraser, mathematical set without the leaflet, non-programmable calculator, ruler).
  • ·         Do not write anything on any part of your body (micro-chip).
  • ·         Do not have foreknowledge of the examination question paper.
  • ·         Prepare for your examination before the date and get ready.
  • ·         Do not expect your student teacher to assist you in the examination hall.
If these rules are strictly followed, examinations are well conducted and the results will show exactly how candidates performed and how much of the subjects they have mastered.

 MALPRACTICE
Examination malpractices are those bad practices that are not in agreement with the examination rules and regulations. It is simply not going by examination ethics. These malpractices include getting help in any way. Candidates who copy from textbooks, notebooks, fellow candidates, papers thrown into the hall by relations, friends, teachers, parents or touts, engaged in examination malpractice.
Students who engage in malpractice are usually lazy students who do not work hard, they spend the time meant for their studies on trivial issues and fail to study hard to be fully equipped with the knowledge of their subjects.
Students who engaged in examination malpractice write their examination under tension. They are always afraid of supervisors and invigilators. Such students are harassed in the examination halls and do not have the composure (rest of mind) to write down even the little they may know, hence they fail their examination with “distinction” and get thoroughly frustrated.
The few who succeed in getting people to write examinations for them or who copy and manage to pass are cheats. Their certificates are stolen certificates because they cannot defend it. Such cheats disappoint and disgrace their parents, relations, friends, institutions, themselves and the society at large because they will occupy positions in diverse endeavors and begin to corrupt the system they are in and give out under standardized products and services.

Examination malpractice can ruin your career. You may succeed in having your way through while in school but it haunts you when you are in a larger society like in the industries and any field of endeavor, then what you are expected to know, you do not know and you see yourself going down the rail because you will be a failure. It could also be that you were caught in examination malpractice while in school and the case (judgment) was delayed till you graduated, my dear, you will be DE-robed; so do avoid examination malpractice of any sort and walk with your shoulders high wherever you find yourself. If you study hard, you will definitely succeed without examination malpractice.  God being with us as our helper.

Unlocking the treasure in you

Posterities are inner forces, innate resources and abilities that God has deposited in every person which can help one achieve his/her purpose on earth potentials were deposited man as response to problems that exist on earth.
Potentials make you unique, confident and can bring satisfaction to you. They are treasures found in every person. The setbacks and hindrance to the development of your potentials are doubts, fear, negative influences/association, ignorance negative attitude/characters, pride and abilities are never developed in a nesh. It may take sometime but pays off.
There is a Chinese plant which when planted experience very reliable growth for over four years. Yet they still apply fertilizer and water till the fifth year. In the fifth year the plant that has not shown signs of development within five weeks grows ninety feet in height. And it is very useful for economic and health purposes One thing about discovering and developing your potentials are maximized, your suffering in life is minimized.

All women are donkeys

During an argument, a husband and his wife “women are donkeys, all women are donkeys!” the next day, as there were travelling along the highway a donkey passed right in front of their car. The woman tells her husband “sweetheart be careful, your mother is crossing the road.”

Enjoyment and social life in schools

Students take school life as a means of enjoyment and to socialize. During our primary school days, we were so much under the direct control of our parents that we could hardly go anywhere without their knowledge, permission and consent. Even our friends were thoroughly checked by them. As a matter of fact, they monitored all our activities.

We equally had catalogue of what to do and what not to do; and we were punished each time we kicked against their dos and don’ts. Then we were not so free, and of course we never cherished much of the restrictions imposed on us.

When we were through with our primary school, we were considered a little but mature and also started to assert certain bit of autonomy which more often than not, resulted in clashes of interest and personality between us and our parents.

But I will advise us not to develop certain bit of autonomy. Although we could say or people can address us as mature people while in secondary schools but it shouldn’t be mature at boys socializing with cultist or girls becoming exposed. I am saying it is not bad to socialize but we should not socialize in bad groups. But mind we have come to study. If we allow ourselves to be carried away by temporary pleasures of the present time then our fate would not be different from being useless

An obedient son

There was a boy called Taye who lived in Iyere town. Before his mother went to market in the morning, she told Taye, son, your lunch is in the kitchen. Play with your friends just outside the house, but always stay near the door. Taye was a good boy and wanted to do as his mother commanded. He played with his friends in the morning and sat by the door in the afternoon.
When it was noon his brother in-law came and asked him, “where is your mother?” mother has gone the market, replied Taye. His brother in-law then said “your sister and I will visit your mother this evening. Please go and inform her.” Taye did not know what to do. He wanted to obey his mother and stay by the door, but also had to go to the message.
He removed the door and carried it on his back. His mother was surprised to see him, “I asked you to stay by near the house. Why have you come here with door on your back?” Said his mother. Taye replied immediately, “mother, you wanted me to stay close to the door, but my brother in-law sent me to inform you that he and my sister are visiting us today. So the best thing for me to do was to bring the door with me so that I could be closed to it.

Strive fot excellence

Being excellence means becoming a person of value. The plan of God for your life and destiny is to attain the highest level of excellence. It is an abuse on redemption if you are not attaining excellence in your life. This is because a true leader is someone who wants to distinguish himself in his field.

God’s desire for your life is to make you the head and not the tail. That is why he said you should be above only and not beneath. Hear this beloved, excellence is not an accident; it is something you must strive for.
Excellence demand hard work. In the school of success, hard work is mandatory. It is not optional. If you want to work for only six hours a day, you are not likely achieve distinction and excellence in life Excellence is not a product of luck but a product of experience. Excellence comes by diligence. The excellence you desire to achieve in that your ministry, government or business does not come by osmosis. To become excellent forever in life, you must emulate excellent people. If you want to be great in your life journey, copy great mean. Understand me now that life is too short to discover everything yourself and also, life is too short not to learn from great men who ever lived. We are able to transplant hearts because medical doctors learnt from our predecessors.
It is high time we began to strive for excellence in life. Be humble and depend upon the discoveries of others, because God does not want you to be a mediocre. Insist on the highest quality and not quantity. Decide today for excellence. Read good books that excellent people have written. You can be an excellent businessman, independent, student and general manager of that enterprise.
Remember, everyone that desire excellence in life must be a radical thinker. It takes thinking to come out with meaningful results. Don’t limit your personality. Believe you can do it better than others

Vision

Vision is the ability to see the picture of the future. It is also the ability to go for your goals and desire before it comes to pass. Vision is the motivation that drives motivated people achieve greatness. Vision pulls atomic energy from the sun. Poor vision limits your dreams. Vision is the act of seeing things invisibly.

People of vision are those who try their best to be counted as the skillful ones. They are people of wisdom; they know if they are not physically updated, they will not be spiritually mandated. They are men and women of great excellence. They are the foresighted people. A great mans word is bounded with his vision. They believe that with god, all things are possible because they see the invisible so they can do the undoable (impossible).

Take charge of your life

TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE

It is dangerous to abandon or kill your God-given dream. The bible says a desire, purpose of dream that is unfulfilled will make you frustrated and sick. The cure is to pursue and accomplish your God-given dream. Pursuit is the evidence of your desire. Desire is passion.

Develop a passion for your purpose in life. Let it become an obsession. Pursue it. Unless you pursue it, you will never accomplish it. Action will bring your dream from your mind and turn it into tangible reality for all to see, admire and be blessed by you. You were created to bless humanity until you begin to do so, you haven’t succeeded yet.

Your success is your fault. Your failure is also your fault. You made it happen. You are responsible for your life. The ultimate act of irresponsibility is to blame someone else for your failure. No one on earth determines your earthly destiny.

Take charge of your life and move in direction you desire to go. Don’t submit your destiny to circumstances. Your present decision in life should never dictate where you are going.

How you started or where you started from and your present situation in life is not a prophetic prediction of how you’ll end up.

The great river

THE GREAT RIVER
From its source in the mountains between sierra leone and guinea to its delta in eastern Nigeria, the mighty niger will have travelled some 4000 kilometres. This nine month long journey to the far off gulf of guinea will take it through many countries and some of the mst varied century in thw world.

From the high mountains around the futa jallon through the dense forest of guinea it flows, gaining in size from its many tributaries.

This waters create the fertile plains of mali republic before reaching the desert regions beyond Timbuktu whence it turns south-east to flow between the republic of niger and benin. It is here that it enters Nigeria, that great African state and more than half its journey over, is put to work-vast hydro-electric plants provide for the needs of nigerias millions and for the industry of this huge country here, too irrigation scheme, fed by its waters, assist in food production and its use, with waters, assist in food production and its use, with specially designed vessels to facilitiate travel, trade and the transport of goods and everywhere are fishermen casting their nets.

At lokoja, where the niger is joined by it greatest tributary, the benin, it turns sharply southwards t flow majestically past Onitsha and presently to form its vast delta.

The delta hot humid, is a place of great rain foorest mangrove swamps and a network of waterways taking the niger at last to the sea. Here too, in the sea offshore, are the oil fields which make Nigeria one of the main oil producers of the common wealth of nations.

Marrying too young

A fruit picked too soon before it ripens, can be bitter to taste. Similarly, those who marry too young often reap bitter harvest. The highest rate of marriage failure is found in the very young couples, especially teenagers.
Younger couples invite more risks to themselves Australian women bluntly and weakly put it this way “marrying at eighteen is nonsense. You are young as a flower bud opening to a sun of passion. You haven’t lived enough. You don’t know who you are and you make immature decisions. Little things that are important then are not important later on.” Yes it takes time to know oneself and also to know prospective mates. “Youthful love” is not real love; bit more of infatuation and physical attraction and that is not enough in marriage. This is seen when passion is given free reign before marriage and the girl more often gets pregnant so sad, the couples marry often to divorce soon.
In France 85% of couples who divorce before two years of their marriage were expecting their first child, before marrying, baby wasn’t enough to hold the marriage together
One of the main causes of marriage failure is lack of communication. This common reason centers on the unwillingness of the marriage mate to talk things over themselves in a calm open manner. It often has a deadening effect on many aspects of marriage. Usually, it is the wife who usually feels that the husband is not interested in what she thinks, says or does. She may complain that she is isolated, unloved without a companion (which a husband should be) thus the couple drifts apart.
However, in many occasions, lack of communication is not the cause of their problems. Rather it is the result. Then something else has gone wrong somewhere and the manifestation of this is that the couples have less and less of good conversation…

Build the child. ..

The child innocent is born into this world, depending on the older ones around for love, shelter, security and guidance is a gift from god and a source of our joy, a reason for our labors and hope of our future is supposed to be cherished, appreciated and equipped for greatness with a sense of belonging. This is supposed to be our responsibilities, knowing full well that we train a child the way he should go and when he grown, he will not depart from it.
However, directly or indirectly speaking, we as parents, teachers and the society at large are failing already in these divine assignment of been a good example even when we are aware that they need to be guided in these stages of their development to maximize their potentials and enable them adjust fully to the environment in which they find themselves. We consider them not too important and they are left to fair for themselves.
The child is supposed to develop physically, mentally, socially and spiritually under our supervision and care, and anything short of this is child abuse in terms of it being inadequate or even over adequacy of the above listed necessities for the child.
The child is supposed to be used (treated) in the right way and not AB- used, MIS-used or WRONGLY-used.

He is the founder of Honda. Do you know he was turned down at an interview with Toyota? And he was jobless for some time. In the process began making scooters in his garage which eventually produced Honda. Most of us want to ride on Honda, but what of if Soichiro Honda had given up on himself?

Death paid a visit to a clever man.

There was this clever young man by name Onwumere to whom Mr. Death paid a visit.
Normally, the rule of the game is that whoever his visita will eventually die. On arrival, Onwumere gave Mr. Death a befitting welcome and served him everything he needed.  Few minutes later Mr. Death fell into a deep sleep and Onwumere carefully went into his back and removed a piece of paper which contains the list of those due for death. Upon opening the list, Onwumere discovered to his greatest surprise that his name was.
At the time Mr. Death woke up he was already refreshed from the sound sleep and thanked Onwumere for his hospitality cum kindness towards him. Being impressed and overwhelmed by Onwumere's kind gesture, Mr. Death in appreciation told Onwumere that he has decided to start killing from the end of the list instead of beginning from the first person as initially arranged. When the young man heard this, he slumped and died. The next target in Mr. Death list.
As a clever man, he carefully erased his name and wrote it at the end of the list.

Who is civilised?

Do we run a society where one can say that our laws and customs are fair and morally acceptable? One who is civilised should be one who is well organised with a very developed culture and way of life.

The wisdom pot

Once upon a time, there lived an animal called Tortoise. Tortoise was very wise. He knew a lot but he didn't know everything. He wanted all the wisdom in the world. He said, " I will take all the wisdom and put it in a big pot. I'll hide the pot at the top of a tree. It will all be mine. " Tortoise didn't know how to climb, so he asked monkey, monkey told him, and tortoise put the wisdom in his pot. Tortoise didn't know how to make honey, so he asked Bee. Bee told him, and tortoise put the wisdom in his pot. Tortoise didn't know how to fly, so he asked bird. Bird told him, and tortoise put the wisdom in his pot.
Finally, the pot was full, Tortoise tied it around his neck with a rope.
He began to climb the tree, but he fell out of the tree again and again. Snail was watching, he said " Tortoise you're very wise but I don't understand how you can climb a tree with a heavy pot around your neck. Why don't you tie the pot to your back? "
Tortoise tied the pot to his back, snail was right. He could climb the tree and he didn't fall out, then he was sad and angry.  He didn't have all the wisdom in the world, snail still had some wisdom.
Tortoise threw the pot down from the tree. It flew around the world for YOU AND I.

Expiring date

A man sat for hours looking at his marriage certificate. The wife asked: what are you doing there? The man answered, I am looking for the expiry date. LOL
